The Chicken Coop Theatre Company is thrilled to launch our Hatching New Works Play Contest—an exciting opportunity for playwrights to see their original work fully produced on stage!

🎭 The Prize

• A full production in The Chicken Coop’s upcoming season

• $500 cash award

• Dramaturgical & directorial support

• Recognition in press & social media

• Community engagement through talkbacks & events

📜 Submission Guidelines

• Original, unpublished plays only

• Full-length works (60 minutes or longer)

• Musicals & adaptations not eligible at this time

• Must align with The Chicken Coop’s mission: bold new stories that uplift emerging voices and amplify marginalized or overlooked communities

• One script per playwright

• Submit in PDF format with:

• Cover page (title, playwright’s name, contact info)

• One-paragraph synopsis

🗓 Key Dates

• Submissions open: September 22, 2025

• Deadline: December 31, 2025

• Winner announced: February 6, 2026
